Sometimes, you just have to trust yourself.
You have a dream. An impulse. An urge. You want to follow through with it – paint all summer in the South of France. Introduce people in Burma to shade-grown coffee. Learn, finally, how to properly execute the driver off the deck. (Golf swing, nothing violent.)
Maybe your dream sounds crazy. Maybe you have absolutely no background in it. That’s good. You have nothing to unlearn.
Ashley and Jason Bartner are a young American couple who, ten years ago, had a crazy dream. They wanted to ditch Brooklyn and move to the countryside.
And run an inn. And a farm. And teach people to cook.
Oh, and they wanted to do it all in Italy.
Neither of them spoke Italian. Neither had Italian blood. They had never run their own business together. They had never bought property together – much less property abroad, in a country not exactly known for its organized, Anglo-Saxon laws and rules.
But they did it. And it worked. Ten years later, La Tavola Marche is a successful agriturismo outfit, a garden-to-table inn nestled against the Apennine mountains. People come from all over the world to eat, cook, sleep, and even do yoga at Ashely and Jason’s Italian countryside home.
How did they do it? How did two people with zero experience and zero Italian connections just… up and move to Italy and start a business?
Read on… then figure out how to make your dream happen.
