Colombia. The name evokes so many images...
Perhaps the sweet smell of freshly roasted coffee. Maybe hot and steamy salsa music. Or images of its distant colonial past, filled with unbelievable riches, intrigue, privateers, merchants, and the fight for liberation of the whole continent.
Then again, the first thing that might come to your mind is: drugs, violence, gangs, FARC, Pablo Escobar... danger.
Most people still associate Colombia with the latter. And they're missing out in a huge way.
Colombia today is nothing like Colombia 20 years ago. Or even 10 years ago. The country is for the most part safe, incredibly rich in culture, lifestyle, and business and investment opportunities.
It represents a true undervalued gem. And people are starting to notice, with entrepreneurs, investors, and retirees moving there in ever larger numbers.
For now, the barriers to entry to become a Colombian resident are very low, especially with the strong USD-Colombian peso exchange rate. It probably won't stay that way for long.
