By mid-June 2020, Chile was in full draconian lockdown.
Seven million Chileans living in Greater Santiago could venture out of their homes only twice a week. And only after applying for a special permit.
That served as a breaking point for a Sovereign Man team member and his family living full-time in Santiago. They had to temporarily break free from Chile.
After reviewing the (short) list of places that still accepted travellers, they decided on Mexico.
Normally, with fewer choices available, one has to compromise - on price or quality of service, for example. But that definitely wasn’t the case with Mexico.
The Riviera Maya - where the family decided to go - was truly a gem.
The weather was great, the ocean crystal clear, the people friendly, restaurants and parks were open, and, outside of the tourist traps, the prices were low.
Sure, there were some government restrictions in place. But conditions were nowhere near as severe or draconian as in Santiago (or most other places).
Maybe you’re in Manhattan or downtown Chicago right now.
And you may be planning escape routes before the next wave of infections (and new lockdowns). Or, similarly, you could be planning how to avoid the next round of “peaceful” protesters burning down your city.
Either way, Mexico might just be the place for you. The Riviera Maya is relaxing, peaceful, and safe, and our team member and his family thoroughly enjoyed the time spent there.
