Uzbekistan: Why the Wild, Wild East is grabbing our attention

Sovereign Confidential

Case Study

As many of you know, we recently held a boots on the ground event in Uzbekistan for our Total Access members. (Total Access is the highest-tier membership we have.)

Several government ministers, as well as some of the country’s most prominent and successful entrepreneurs presented for us. Their message was simple - Uzbekistan is (rapidly) opening up for foreign investments and has been going through a stunning set of reforms to make the country investment and business-friendly.

The event was a great success. We all came away very impressed with the country and opportunities there.

As a result, we recently completed a private Sovereign Man Private Investor (SMPI) deal with a Swiss company that is heavily involved in Uzbekistan.

But it’s just the beginning. Going forward, we decided to dedicate significant efforts on looking for similar exciting opportunities in Uzbekistan and other frontier markets.

And to kick this series off, today we present you with a view on Uzbekistan coming from Scott  Osheroff - a serial entrepreneur and successful investor, as well as an alum of the Sovereign Academy, class of 2019.

Scott is the Chief Investment Officer at a boutique investment firm, focused on exciting frontier markets in Asia.

He is responsible for the firm’s investment portfolio in Uzbekistan (so he really knows what he is talking about).

We hope you will enjoy Scott’s bird’s eye view on Uzbekistan and why he thinks the country could be the most exciting market on the planet today.

And in the near future, we will continue with other reports of the Uzbekistan series, where you will learn about:

  • Different ways to invest in Uzbekistan, including Scott’s top picks in the country’s stock market... which is incredibly cheap

  • How to open a brokerage account in the country

  • How to open a bank account in Uzbekistan. Hint - the Uzbek economy is booming and is in a serious need of capital. (As a result, local banks are happily paying 5%, 6% and even 7% for term deposits in US dollars.)

So, stay tuned for a lot more.
