Back in May, we took a close look at Panama City real estate and found that, despite the market starting to wake up, there were still some very attractive opportunities.
This time, we are leaving the capital behind and looking at what Panama has to offer elsewhere.
Outside the capital, Panama becomes a much more varied real estate story. There are still places where $200,000–$300,000 buys a surprising amount of property, but there are also higher-end markets where the attraction has much more to do with lifestyle than price.
In our new report, we look at five very different parts of the country:
- El Valle de Antón and nearby Altos del María for mountain living within reach of Panama City
- Volcán as a cheaper alternative to Boquete
- Nueva Gorgona, where beach-condo buyers still appear to have considerable negotiating leverage
- Bocas del Toro, probably Panama’s most interesting— and complicated— Caribbean market
- Buenaventura, which is expensive by Panamanian standards but arguably the country’s most polished resort community
We also looked beyond the headline prices: what you actually get for your money, what it costs to own, whether renting it out makes sense, and the practical issues that can turn an apparent bargain into something much less attractive.
