You may remember Joel from a few years ago, when I first spoke with him at the beginning of the Covid-1984 pandemic.
Joel is first and foremost a brilliant farmer – many of you have probably seen the famous documentary, Food Inc., which featured Joel’s farm. But he’s also a renowned writer, a successful entrepreneur, and a passionate advocate for liberty.
Just a few days ago, in our latest SMC Monthly Letter, I wrote at length about inflation and some of the main reasons behind these trends.
We are all, in one way or another, experiencing the surging prices of everything – from breakfast cereal to our kids’ diapers to furniture and more. Not only that – we are also experiencing shortages, and are realizing how dependent we are on global supply chains.
And so naturally, during our call earlier today, I first wanted to get Joel’s take on a Plan B that you can put in place for food.
As you can imagine, Joel had a lot to say on the matter: He talked at length about the different ways to grow food (from leafy greens, to herb gardens, to raising chickens at your Manhattan apartment)...
He also pointed out how empowering it is to be able to grow one’s food, and how important it should be for all of us to educate ourselves about locally-sourced produce. This way, we’re less dependent and more resilient during the next potential food crisis.
Something as simple as harvesting your own tomatoes or herbs can help us feel more in a position of strength. Plus, it can make us healthier, happier, and more in control.
But apart from a Plan B for your food, Joel and I also talked about other topics. We’ve covered how governmental policies are sabotaging food production (and how all food shortages are results of government regulations)...
We’ve also discussed inflation, supply chain issues, small producers and food prices… I even asked for Joel’s take on the future, and the potential remedies for our current inflationary environment.
If you want to know more about reducing your grocery bill and improving the quality of the food you eat… or how much energy goes into producing food/how many “food miles” your breakfast sausage travels until it reaches your table…
